Garcia returns to celebrate Sandy Park’s 20th anniversary

Exeter Chiefs Women’s former scrum-half and fly-half Patricia Garica has booked her ticket to fly in for the 20^th anniversary celebrations for Sandy Park.

The Spanish international, now a public speaker and digital transformation expert, played in Chiefs Women’s inaugural season with her debut coming against Harlequins in October 2020.

Player #29 for the women, Garcia played 32 games for Chiefs, scoring eight tries and kicked 75 points.

Garcia was also influential in supporting the Chiefs Women’s pathway and won the Allianz Cup with the team in 2022.

She will feature in a Q&A session led by Chris Bentley about Chiefs’ trophy-winning era.

Garica said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be coming back to Exeter Chiefs to celebrate such a special milestone. I have so many great memories from my time with the women’s team, from being part of the creation and development of the women’s section to winning the club’s first major women’s title, the Allianz Cup in 2022, and reaching the Premier 15s final as runners-up.

“Exeter is also the club where I finished my playing career, and where I had the opportunity to support the development and growth of girls’ and women’s rugby through the Centre of Excellence and as head coach of the women’s academy. It will be wonderful to return, see familiar faces and share some of those memories again.

“Exeter has always been a very special club to me, and I’m really looking forward to celebrating the 20th anniversary of Sandy Park together with everyone.”

Other past players also invited to the Sandy Park 20^th Anniversary Dinner on Friday, 25 September, include Don Armand, Richie Baxter, Dave Ewers, Mark Foster, Tommy Hayes, Moray Low, Dean Mumm, Brett Sturgess, Elvis Taione, Thomas Waldrom and Ian Whitten.

Guests at the Sandy Park 20^th Anniversary Dinner will be treated to a sumptuous five-course dinner:

• Starter: Smoked chicken breast, hen egg, black garlic mayonnaise, confit cherry tomatoes, crispy Devon Blue & potato croquette
• Fish course: Poached salmon, oyster mayonnaise, preserved lemon puree, samphire, crispy seaweed, and dill oil
• Main course: Beef fillet, braised beef cheek croquette, truffle mash potatoes, roasted butternut squads and a red wine jus
• Dessert: Dark chocolate mousse, caramel cream, salted pecans and raspberry compote
• Cheese course: Selection of cheddar, stilton and brie with Devon chutney, grapes, celery and crackers
