Knowledge is Power

Quiz Night - Wednesday 26 February 2014

Exeter Chiefs supporters were given a rare insight into one of the traditions of the 'Away-Day Team Bus' as they teamed up with members of Rob Baxter's squad for the inaugural Corporate Quiz Night which took place on Wednesday 26 February.

For years Chiefs teams past and present have helped to break up the boredom of lengthy journeys up and down the road networks of England with the Away-Day Quiz.

Keen to give supporters and local companies an insight into the ritual, over 200 people descended on Sandy Park for a fun-filled night of entertainment, which tested attendees on their General Knowledge, Sport, History and Films, as well as a special rounds on Pictures, Through the Keyhole and Guest the Mystery Big Chief.

Hosted by Head of Corporate John Wood and special Quiz Master Haydn Thomas, 29 teams battled it out for the accolade of Corporate champions which, in the end, went to SW Comms 3.

"We knew we had intelligent supporters here at the Chiefs, but mixing them together with the players as well really helped to make what was a terrific evening," said John. "As part of their away-day travels, Haydn regularly composes a quiz for the players, so it was great to give everyone an idea of just how the guys try to relax on the road.

"Already we've had lots of people asking when the next quiz will be, so we're already hard at work looking at possible dates for the Autumn."

The success of the evening was further underlined by the fact that £800 was raised for the official Chiefs charity, the Exeter Foundation.
