Exeter Chamber of Commerce is celebrating 10 years of the Annual Business Dinner.

This prestigious black-tie event, taking place on Friday 14th November at the newly refurbished Sandy Park is seen as one of the highlights of the Exeter business calendar and has welcomed more than 300 business representatives from across the region in previous years.

With plans underway the Chamber is delighted to report that Jo Pavey will be this year's after dinner speaker.

Jo's long running career started back in 1980's. In March 1988 she joined Tony White's endurance squad at Exeter Harriers. Within just a few months she won the English Schools 1500m title in an age group UK record and followed this with UK national titles at both 800m and 1500m, A double that's never been repeated by anyone else. In 1989 she made her GB debut in the under 20 squad at the tender age of just 15 years old. In 1990 she again won the 800m and 1500m titles. Years of injury then blighted her career in the 1990's and she looked set to be one of those prestigious youngsters that disappears after a short time in the spotlight. However, Jo did not give up and after years of battling her injuries and after an operation she finally made her senior international debut in 1997 at the World Championship in Athens. Jo made headline news in 2014 by becoming the oldest European Champion in history. She was also the oldest female track medalist at a Commonwealth Games and the oldest medalist at the Continental Cup.

Jo is the current UK record holder over 3000m and 2 miles indoors and set European & Commonwealth records over these distances. Jo has set various age world records and currently is world record holder at 10000m for over 35 and 5000m for over 40. She also broke the over 40 3000m record during a 5000m race.

This year's Exeter Business Dinner will be held on Friday 14th November at the Sandy Park Conference Centre.

There will be a sparkling wine reception served at 7pm followed by a sumptuous four course feast, including delicious local produce and quality wines.

This year's dinner will cost £550 per table and £60 per person
