Westcountry sport stars line-up at Sandy Park event

IMG_0662.jpgSix of the Westcountry’s elite sports stars lined-up at Sandy Park on Thursday to take part in the venue’s inaugural Question of Sport evening.

Exeter Chiefs Official Dean Mumm and Olympian Heather Fell captained the two teams and were joined by Sports Personality of the Year finalist Jo Pavey, Somerset County Cricket Club's Max Waller, Exeter City Football Club's Danny Butterfield and a second Exeter Chief, Henry Slade.

Former ITV Sports journalist Mark Tyler hosted the evening, which until the half-way mark, Dean, Jo and Max led comfortably. However during the second half, Heather, Danny and Henry stormed through to finish seven points ahead and be crowned Question of Sport Champions.

An auction featuring memorabilia donated by the sporting celebrities, including a signed Team England hoody from Jo Pavey and signed England Rugby polo from Henry Slade, raised £1500 for the Exeter Foundation, the official Exeter Chiefs charity.

Media Manager at Exeter Chiefs, Mark Stevens, who put the evening together said: “We’d like to extend a massive thanks to the sports people who gave up their time to take part in this evening and donated such brilliant items for the auction.

“We’re hoping to do more of these evenings so keep an eye on all of the Exeter Chiefs and Sandy Park social channels for details of future events.”
